![]() Hacking beacons are best used on shrines of chance or areas where you can hit 2 or more chests, which guarantees at least 4 items total if you run both. Usually I dont use his shift all that much so I take the Diablo strike because it has great situational value and I find his shotgun does the job the other 98% of the time. So you prioritize wisps, clay gunners, golems first and you will survive much better. Brass contraptions, elder lemurians, greater wisps, and quite a few more projectile based enemies are much easier for captain to deal with. Then you need to prioritize threatening enemies first, but his threat list looks quite different than most survivors. He becomes somewhat of a tank by passively existing and buying a few drones. That, and his much better bleed scaling, make him a better attack speed stacker than, say, huntress. Since his m1 is so good, you’ll want attack speed, which also increases his defenses by virtue of his passive red. He can reset his m1 animation with m2, allowing for pretty fast firing (that’s not even using the beacon tech), and it stacks bleed better than anything else in the game. Obviously it’s great to have free items but his lack of mobility probably balances that out for the most part. >IN CONCLUSION: He has extremely reliable, high damage with a lot of utility through his beaconsĬaptain is busted because his m1 is so strong, more so than the hacking imo. ![]() >the defensive microbots he starts with are extremely useful and carry over to drones, letting you create your own missile defense system, basically >due to his overall really good damage, he can proc bands very easily >each hacking beacon can get you a minimum of 2 items each for free if you use it on a chance shrine (or just drop it on a legendary chest so you dont have to grind money for it) >the probe strikes are very good single target or group damage, depending on which you use, can even one-shot Mithrix's first phase if you time the Diablo right, can also use it to skip having to do the pillars in Commencement ![]() >the abilities being cut in hidden realms due to a LORE REASON IS STILL BULLSHIT AND I HAVE BEEN FURIOUS OVER IT FOR YEARS >it also has extremely high knockback thanks to the pellets which can come in handy sometimes ![]() >the Vulcan, as it is a shotgun, is great for procs due to having 8 shots to try, although each shot has only 0.75 coefficient Like I always hear everyone praising him to the highest degree saying he's amazing but like I really don't see it, they always point to his hacking beacons but like, cool I have 1-2 items that I didn't have to buy that I could have bought if I just killed a few enemies, he just doesn't feel complete, especially the fact his abilities get cut in half for void areas which is stupid when you can still call in a soda machine, it just feels like the character doesn't have enough going for him and everyone says he's amazing because his m1 is long and short range but like the damage fall off for the long range is pretty noticeable so he really isn't the best long range, and his mobility is complete garbage compared to other clases, and they always say "oh you just gotta give him high attack speed, he shreds" yeah so does every other class in the game, pretty much any other class benefits from high attack speed like I just don't understand, like does he do good with certain items? Does he have good synergies? I just don't understand and would like some level of explanation on the character
